Arrival!!
Sorry for our late blog, we have just been so busy. You might have thought, "Have they made it? or Are my loved ones safe?" Well, good news! We have made it to Kathmandu, Nepal and are safe and sound in the care of Bishwa and Ramilla. Our plane rides over here were long and boring. All of us were glad to make it to Heathrow airport and be united with our team. When we made it to the Kathmandu airport we just couldn't believe that we were all the way across the world from California. A huge bonus was that all of our luggage arrived on time! Thank you God! Once we got our luggage we were on the search for Bishwa, the man that we are staying with. All of a sudden after we turn a corner we see a Nepali with a green shirt smiling at us. David states, "I see Bishwa!" That comment has lead to a growing relationship of our team and his family.
Adjusting
Since Kathmandu is on the opposite side of the world from California, our team was bound to need a few days to adjust. Our first few days in Nepal consisted of team bonding, sleeping, and eating. All of us are enjoying the Nepali food, which is mostly rice, spicy potatoes and our favorite momos (steamed dumpling with yummy meat). Surprisingly we are able to eat some American food with an Asian flair, it has helped the transition for all of us (minus Kelsey's stomach, pray is welcomed). Like I said earlier we are staying in Bishwa and Ramilla's house which is right outside the city. The house is beautiful and spacious. We are sleeping roughly 8 to 9 hours daily. It has been an awesome change from college life!
What are we up to??
When we arrived we thought that we would be teaching English in a Nepali school. God had other plans, now we are leading a Bible study in two churches. While we are discussing the Bible we are also teaching the Nepali's English. One church we lead on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday while the other one we lead on Fridays.
In addition to our Bible Study, we have been able to see Nepal. Thus far we have been to Patan Dubar Square, the famous Monkey Temple/Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple and Thamel. All of us enjoy walking around the neighborhood to soak up daily live in Nepal, as well.
